If your leave in the UK is on the basis of being the spouse or partner of someone who is present and settled or has refugee leave, and you have suffered domestic violence or abuse from them or another family member, then you may be eligible to make an application to the Home Office for leave on the basis of being a victim of domestic violence.

- You do not have to be abused by your partner. The Home Office will also consider abuse by other family members.
- If you require access to public funds in order to flee the abuse, the Home Office has a concession in place specifically for those who are applying on the basis of domestic violence to allow them access to public funds for three months whilst their full application is finalised.
- If the application is accepted by the Home Office, victims of domestic violence may receive indefinite leave to remain.
