February 4 is World Cancer Day 2016 (4 February 2016)

Cancer Research UK has joined forces with charities Breast Cancer Care and the Anthony Nolan Trust to raise awareness of cancer and help fundraise for research on World Cancer Day 2016 today (04/02/16).
The charities are also working alongside the male cancer campaign charity Movember, which every November fundraises for prostate cancer research by encouraging men to grow a moustache to show their support for research into male cancers.
The World Cancer Day 2016 campaign is encouraging the public to buy and wear a wristband in support of research into cancer – as well as donating via the Cancer Research UK website.
Breast Cancer Care is the UK’s only charity dedicated to offering care, support and information to people with breast cancer, while the Anthon Nolan Trust is dedicated to saving the lives of people with blood cancer who need a stem cell (or bone marrow) transplant.
Cancer Research UK says that half of people born after 1960 are likely to develop some form of cancer, but research over the last 40 years means that survival rates have doubled – two out of four cancer patients will now survive for at least ten years.
Donations and fundraising on World Cancer Day 2016 will help fund research into 200 types of cancer – as well as funding more than 4,000 research scientists, doctors and nurses in the UK.
