Police have charged 13 people after activists cut their way through wire into Heathrow Airport to stage a protest over climate change and Heathrow’s planned expansion.

The climate change activists mounted their protest on Heathrow's north runway, causing delays and cancellations to flights from the airport on Monday (13/07/15).

Scotland Yard has confirmed that as a result, six women and seven men will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 19 August.

The Evening Standard reports that those charged are Rebecca Holly Sanderson, 27, of Newton Road, Machynlleth in Powys; Melanie Strickland, 32, of Borwick Avenue in Waltham Forest, east London; Richard Steven Hawkins, 32, of Heol y Doll, Machynlleth in Powys; Ella Gilbert, 22, of Magdalen Street, Norwich in Norfolk; Danielle Louise Paffard, 28, of Blenhiem Grove, Southwark, southeast London; Graham Edward James Thompson, 42, of Durlston Road in Hackney, northeast London; Robert Anthony Basto, 67, of Blackborough Road, Reigate in Surrey; Kara Lauren Moses, 31, of Heol y Doll, Machynlleth in Powys; Cameron Joseph Kaye, 23, of Kenwood Close, Sipson in West Drayton; Edward Thacker, 26, of Kenwood Close, Sipson in West Drayton; Alistair Craig Tamlit, 27, of Kenwood Close, Sipson in West Drayton; Sheila Menon, 43, of Pellerin Road, Hackney in northeast London; and Sam Sender, 23, of Kenwood Close, Sipson in West Drayton.

All 13 have been charged with aggravated trespass and entering a security restricted area of an aerodrome.
