The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has confirmed the death of a British schoolboy who drowned in a hotel swimming pool on the Spanish island of Lanzarote on the last day of a family holiday.

The Daily Mail reports that 13-year-old Logan Kehoe from Birmingham was enjoying a final dip in the pool at a holiday complex in Costa Teguise, when he died as a result of “accidental drowning”, according to Spanish police.

The incident happened on Saturday (11/04/15) and emergency services were called to the scene, where ambulance crews performed CPR.

A spokesperson for the Guardia Civil on Lanzarote said:

“Emergency services were called to the scene at 14.30 and tried in vain to revive him using CPR.

“Every indication is the cause of death was accidental drowning.”

The FCO said it was offering help to Logan's family.

“We are aware of the death of a British national in Lanzarote and we are offering consular assistance,” said an FCO spokesman.

Logan was a pupil at pupil at Bishop Challoner Catholic College in Kings Heath, Birmingham. He was a keen footballer and played centre-half for Birmingham City Football Club’s under 13s.

The school said it was providing psychological support to staff and students affected by Logan’s death.
