Police make further arrests over £1m courier fraud (11 September 2014)

Following raids in east London on Monday (08/09/14), police have arrested two men aged 31 and 24 in connection with a £1 million courier fraud operating in the southwest of England.
BBC News reports that a man aged 28 has also voluntarily attended a police station for interview under caution in connection with the fraud.
The fraud involves a bogus policeman telephoning targeted individuals and persuading them to send money via a courier or taxi, sent to their house to collect the money.
In August, two other men were remanded in custody in connection with the courier fraud, after a three-month police investigation. Rahim Choudhrey and Abdul Shafee, both aged 18, of Tower Hamlets in east London are accused of 10 counts of conspiracy to defraud victims out of a total of £168,000, BBC News reports.
Police say that they are hoping more victims of courier fraud will come forward to help police in their inquiry.
Detective Inspector Tony Hubbard from Avon and Somerset Police said he believed that the gang had targeted many more victims by posing as bogus policeman and persuading victims to part with cash, which was then delivered by courier or taxi to the gang.
