Profile / Experience
I am a Level 2 Accredited Caseworker in the Public Law Department at the Duncan Lewis Birmingham office with extensive experience in both legal aid and privately funded matters. I currently work under the direct supervision and guidance of solicitor Darren Middleton and director Ahmed Aydeed.
Prior to joining Duncan Lewis Solicitors, I worked with a private client boutique immigration firm where I undertook extensive applications concerning rights to a family and private life in the UK including applications made from outside the UK, such as spouse, fiancee, visitors, adult dependents, domestic workers and leave to remain applications made from within the UK including FLR(M), FLR (FP), FLR (HRO), Settlement (SET (M), SET (LR), SET (O), Naturalisation (Form AN), Nationality applications concerning registration for both children and adults and applications under the EEA Regulations including EEA (FP), EEA (FM)and EEA (PR).
Having established a sound and pragmatic understanding of immigration law and the workings of the Home Office through privately funded work, I joined Duncan Lewis Solicitors in order to pursue my passion of representing those who do not have the means or the know-how to afford meaningful representations. I currently undertake instructions on legal aid matters in matters concerning asylum, domestic violence, unlawful detention, trafficking, removals, unlawful detention amongst others. I also regularly undertake matters which are contested in the First-Tier and Upper-Tier Tribunal.
I am accredited under the Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme at Level 2, this means I have demonstrated the required level of knowledge and experience in this area of law as defined by the society. It also enables me to assist both private and publicly funded clients. I am able to prepare initial applications to the Home Office in the United Kingdom and applications for entry clearance overseas. I advise on challenging unfavourable decisions and prepare for appeal hearings.
Outside of Duncan Lewis, I also volunteer with the charity called PRCBC and my work with them involves advising, preparing and submitting Registration as British Citizens applications for children who otherwise cannot afford legal and Home Office fees.
