Duncan Lewis, Mental Health Solicitors, Selby hosts second mental health conference in November

Selby District Council in North Yorkshire has announced a second mental health conference, following the success of the first ever mental health conference in Selby.

A workshop will take place on Thursday 3 November, which will build on the feedback from the first September event attended by more than 50 delegates.

The events bring together health professionals, medical practitioners, voluntary and community groups with service users – and the second conference will take the form of an informal workshop to gather detailed information and facts about provision and services in the district.

Executive Member and lead councillor with responsibility for housing, leisure, health and culture, Councillor Richard Musgrave, said:

“The workshop will allow for plenty of ‘tea and talk’ breaks to allow attendees to network – but will also be a fact finding exercise mapping out accessing services, the referrals process and communication issues.

“This workshop will take a different approach to the first event, which was very much to bring together interested parties to raise awareness of mental health issues.”

This information will then be used for a third event in December, with North Yorkshire County Council to look at how a local action plan will feed into their Mental Health Strategy.

The event will take place at the Civic Centre, Doncaster Road, Selby, where free parking is available.
