Charity Committee gets off to a flying start - 2009
Duncan Lewis has established a Charity Committee with a mandate to coordinate and develop all the charitable work undertaken by the company. The committee has its own budget of £1,000 per month to donate to designated charities. However, its more important role is to ensure that company wide events are held to support the company’s charitable ideals and to help promote charitable initiatives of individuals in order to ensure that they receive the fullest possible support from their Duncan Lewis colleagues.
The first event was for the pink t-shirted ladies of Clapham to tackle the Hyde Park “Race for Life” event held in July. The Cancer Research event was blessed with wet weather but no lack of enthusiasm and £2,000 was raised by the Duncan Lewis team.
In order to avoid any issues relating to the vagaries of the weather, the next event was a dress down day in all of the Duncan Lewis offices. This event raised funds for the Medical Foundation for the Victims of Torture, a charity that offers medical, psychological and practical support to victims of torture from all over the world. Over £700 (and counting) has been contributed by staff in addition to the company’s contribution to the cause.
