Profile / Experience
I am a Solicitor in the Immigration Department at Duncan Lewis, with an extensive experience of asylum and immigration law.
I regularly appear before the First-Tier and Upper Tribunal of the Immigration Asylum Chamber for oral advocacy, in both asylum appeals and bail hearings. I have prepared, presented and had appeals for nationals of Mongolia, Pakistan, Sudan and Zimbabwe allowed by the First Tier Tribunal.
I am experienced in preparing and lodging Judicial Review claims for asylum and immigration decisions. This includes successfully using the Pre Action Protocol to avoid court litigation whilst obtaining favourable outcomes for clients.
I am accredited under the Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme at Level 2, this means I have demonstrated the required level of knowledge and experience in this area of law as defined by the society. It also enables me to assist both private and publicly funded clients. I am able to prepare initial applications to the Home Office in the United Kingdom and applications for entry clearance overseas. I advise on challenging unfavourable decisions and prepare for appeal hearings.
Prior to joining Duncan Lewis, I worked for several years at a local charity, the Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre, where I gained extensive experience of working with migrant communities and formulated my commitment to immigration casework.
