“Non medical doctor” prosecuted under Cancer Act 1939 (12 December 2013)

Duncan Lewis, Crime Solicitors, “Non medical doctor” prosecuted under Cancer Act 1939

A self proclaimed non medical doctor who claims to be able to cure cancer and HIV has appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court charged under the Cancer Act 1939.

Errol Denton practises from a rented office at 1 Harley Street in London and promotes his services using social media websites like Twitter and Facebook, as well as his own website Live Blood Test.

Denton claims that illnesses like cancer, diabetes and HIV are curable without “the big pharmaceuticals”.

Under the Cancer Act 1939, adverts offering to treat or cure cancer are prohibited, however.

Mr Denton is being prosecuted by Westminster City Council.

Mr Denton’s website livebloodtest.com claims to detect imbalances using a powerful microscope.

His cancer therapies also include advice such as women not wearing bras to reduce acidity in breasts:
“I have advised women for years not to wear bras, says Mr Denton on his website. “When they return for a blood test, the results show a reduction of acidity in the breast area.”
Mr Denton is representing himself in court and at first would not confirm his full name to District Judge Andrew Sweet, the Mail online reports.

”I’m not ‘Mr’ Errol Denton – I’m Errol of the Denton family, not ‘Mr’, the corporate fiction,” he said.” I am a living soul, I have inalienable rights. I am here by special invitation.”

Mr Denton claims the articles on his website were not written by him, but by a “corporate entity not based in the UK”. He added that a Dubai company also operated websites using his name – and said “internet agitators” sponsored by pharmaceutical companies were trying to damage his name by making complaints.

The court heard that articles on his website suggested Mr Denton’s therapies and tests could assist with the treatment of cancer.

“Wake up to the fact that cancer is a disease caused by lifestyle and as such is curable by lifestyle changes and herbs,” says Mr Denton, who claims that natural cures for cancer are being suppressed to “cull population growth”.
The court heard that he frequently uses blogging sites and other websites to promote his microscopy blood test.

Denton of Woodford Green in east London denies nine charges of breaching the Cancer Act 1939.

The trial was adjourned and will continue in March 2014.
