I am a Director in the Immigration department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors. I supervise a team of lawyers who are all committed to delivering a high standard of representation to clients.
I joined the firm in February 2009 as a paralegal within the immigration department and qualified as a solicitor in July 2012. I worked as a consultant solicitor with the firm from January 2014 to August 2018 before joining the Luton office as a supervising solicitor within the public law and immigration departments.
I have over 13 years’ experience specialising in asylum and human rights law. This includes private and family life applications, trafficking and modern slavery claims along with detention, deportation and bail matters.
I have a particular interest in assisting individuals who are detained and securing their release from detention and/or prison where they are being held under immigration law. I am extremely passionate about assisting vulnerable people, particularly those with mental health conditions, victims of torture and trafficking.
I represent individuals at all stages of their cases. This can range from initial applications, appeals to challenges by way of judicial review.
Examples of judicial review challenges include:
- Decisions of the Single Competent Authority in trafficking matters;
- Unlawful delay in processing / making a decision within a reasonable timeframe in immigration and asylum applications;
- Unlawful denial of appeal rights in fresh asylum claims;
- Unlawful detention;
- False imprisonment;
- Removals to third countries / country of origin.
I have a proven track record of achieving excellent results for my clients and offer thorough advice and representation.
I am an accredited Level 2 Senior Caseworker and Supervisor under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme.
