A company based in Hertfordshire has been successfully prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) after a worker fell from height and fractured an arm and their pelvis.
The worker was injured after falling from a ladder while repairing a scrolling billboard in Greenwich, sourtheast London, on 6 December, 2013
At Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Titchfield Limited of Media House, Sopers Road in Cuffley, Potters Bars, Hertfordshire pleaded guilty to a breach of Regulation 4(1) of the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
The company was fined £12,000 for the breach – and the court also ordered Titchfield Limited to pay full costs of £3,201.40. The company was also required to pay a victim surcharge of £140.
The Health and Safety Executive offers employers guidelines on safe working practices involving working at height.
