We are thrilled to announce that Nazia Khan has been promoted to the role of Immigration Department Director at Duncan Lewis Solicitors.
Based in our City of London office, Nazia will continue defending the rights of the vulnerable, such as unaccompanied young people, those who have been wrongfully detained and others suffering from complex psychological issues, as well as victims of torture, trafficking and domestic violence.
She was admitted as a solicitor in 2014, previously spending four years specialising in civil litigation, and joined Duncan Lewis Solicitors the following year, in 2015.
Nazia represents clients in all aspects of human rights claims, from initial applications, through to appeals in the First-Tier and Upper Tribunal of the Immigration Asylum Chamber and the higher courts.
She also assists clients with all types of entry clearance and settlement applications, and nationality matters, as well as frequently representing clients at the High Court during judicial reviews.
Her immigration case experience is wide ranging and her cases include unlawful detention and false imprisonment - which often involves obtaining damages for clients who were falsely imprisoned by the Home Office.
It also encompasses challenging unlawful delays in processing immigration and asylum applications, fresh claim challenges/unlawful denial of appeal rights, refusals of Article 8 ECHR family and private life applications, third Country removals, challenges to decisions to deny access to public funds, and challenging removals by way of urgent interim relief applications.
Nazia is accredited as a Supervisor and Level 2 Senior Caseworker under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme, which demonstrates her skill and a high level of knowledge and competence in this area of law. She was also recognised as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ by The Legal 500 2021 within their Immigration South East guide.
