Date: 23/05/2024
Duncan Lewis, Main Solicitors, Rupinder Jagdev to speak at ‘Intermediaries in the Family Court’ seminar following significant judgement in West Northamptonshire Council v KA [2024]

We are pleased to announce that Family and Child Care Director Rupinder Jagdev will be a featured panellist at the upcoming ‘Post Lieven J: Intermediaries in the Family Court’ seminar alongside Robert Pettitt and William Scrimshire. The event, hosted by Communitcourt in collaboration with 3PB Chambers, will take place on June 13th.

The seminar will discuss the recent significant judgement in West Northamptonshire Council v KA & Ors [2024], in which Rupinder and Robert Pettitt from Northampton Chambers, represented the Mother. The panel will also be joined by William Scrimshire (Communicourt). In this case, an order was made appointing a deaf intermediary for the Mother, described as 'profoundly deaf', for the duration of a Final Hearing. The High Court outlined valuable guidance on the use of intermediaries in the family court.

This free in-person event, taking place on 13th June at 3PB Barristers, will be chaired by Matiss Krumins (3PB). The panel will dissect the case behind Mrs Justice Lieven‘s recent guidance as to the use of intermediaries in family court. It will explore the implications and significance of the judgment and discuss how legal teams can effectively support the participation of vulnerable clients in the aftermath of this landmark ruling.
