Duncan Lewis Solicitors is excited to welcome new Crime Director Nicholas De Freitas, he will be based in the company’s Harrow branch. With 10 years legal experience, Nicolas joins Duncan Lewis from Noble Solicitors as a well-established Criminal Defence solicitor, supervising Harrow’s team of crime caseworkers and solicitors, alongside Crime Director Rubin Italia and Hardeep Dhaliwal.
Nicolas has specialist experience as a Higher Rights Court Advocate within the Crown Court, which he has held since 2011 and has three years’ experience as a Junior Counsel in multiple murder cases and immigration fraud matters. He is fluent in Portuguese and is proficient in a range of criminal law matters, from serious and complex murder cases and international fraud cases, Very High Cost Cases (VHCC), cases concerning sexual assault, robbery and grievous bodily harm. Nicolas represents clients on both a private fee and legal aid basis. As a Duty Qualified Solicitor, Nicolas attends the Police Station and Magistrates’ Court regularly and has extensive experience supervising caseworkers on a range of criminal matters.
Nicolas has represented in a number of notable criminal cases throughout his career so far. He represented a number of clients for four years in the “fake Viagra” case, which went on to become confiscation proceedings. He also has extensive experience appealing sentences in cases relating to possession, burglary and sexual assault.
