We are thrilled to announce Jamie Bell has been shortlisted in the public law category of the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year awards 2022.
Jamie’s exceptional commitment to his clients and publicly-funded work in particular has won him a well-deserved nomination.
The LALY awards recognise the tireless efforts of legal aid lawyers to support the vulnerable, challenge wrongs and ensure that justice is available to all.
Jamie, who joined Duncan Lewis Solicitors as a caseworker in 2014, has been a recommended lawyer in the Legal 500 guide which comments upon his ability to 'quickly demonstrate care, commitment, openness and warmth'.
In shortlisting him, judges have considered his commitment to providing advice and resources to charities and NGOs, particularly in the context of urgent cases where vulnerable individuals facing removal require urgent pro bono assistance, and his strongly-held belief in the principles of fair treatment.
They also looked at his extensive expertise and dedication to the plight of Afghans, both in Afghanistan and in the UK, who have fled the country due to conflict and his work on the high profile Brook House inquiry.
After two years of lockdown-induced virtual awards, the LALY awards are back this year with an in-person event. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Tuesday, July 12.
We would like to say, congratulations to Jamie and wish him the best of luck on the night.
