Duncan Lewis Solicitors is pleased to announce that Emine Mehmet, Director of Family and Child Care, has been shortlisted for Family Law Partner of the Year at the LexisNexis Family Law Awards 2025. This recognition celebrates her exceptional contributions to family law and her unwavering dedication to seeking justice for the most vulnerable.

Emine has made an indelible mark on the field of family law. She has consistently handled some of the most complex and emotionally challenging cases in child care law, always placing the best interests of children and families at the heart of her practice. From victims of domestic abuse to families in crisis, Emine has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to legally aided work and social justice throughout her career.

A recognised leader in the profession, Emine has been ranked in The Legal 500 since 2022 and Chambers and Partners since 2021. She has also been a trusted member of the Law Society Children Law Panel for over 15 years. Her expertise, combined with her vision and compassion, has enabled her to create meaningful, lasting change in the lives of vulnerable families.

As head of Duncan Lewis’s Pro Bono Committee, she has developed ten legal advice surgeries in partnership with organisations such as Hestia, Solace, Latin American Women’s Aid (LAWA), the Islington Legal Advice Centre, and Citizens Advice. These surgeries provide vital support to individuals facing urgent and complex family law issues.

Through her pioneering collaboration with the University of East London (UEL), Emine co-founded a family law clinic that delivers free legal support to underserved communities while mentoring the next generation of lawyers. Her guidance has helped prepare students for impactful legal careers and contributed to UEL’s nomination for Times University of the Year. In recognition of her exceptional work, Emine was awarded an Honorary Law Fellowship by the Royal Docks School of Business and Law in 2022.

Emine not only guides clients through the complex family justice system, but also amplifies the voices of those too often silenced. Her enduring commitment to legal aid, development of pro bono initiatives, and dedication to mentoring the next generation of lawyers make her a worthy finalist for Partner of the Year.
