We are pleased to announce that Duncan Lewis has been nominated at this year’s UK Diversity Legal Awards for the Access to Justice Award and the Outstanding Multi-cultural/BAME Employee Network Award.
The UK Diversity Legal Awards showcase and celebrate the exemplary work being done by individuals, teams and organisations to enable greater diversity in the legal profession and we are thrilled to have been recognised and nominated.
The Access to Justice Award recognises initiatives that effectively provide and improve access to justice for disadvantaged, marginalised or vulnerable members of society. Our nomination for this award reflects the dedication we have to ensuring that everybody has access to justice no matter what their circumstances.
We have worked tirelessly to protect the most vulnerable in society by carrying out pro bono work and establishing clinics across the country. This nomination recognises the pro bono work we have carried out and the collaborations and projects we have been involved in, including;
- Xavier Project Uganda
- Grenfell drop-in surgeries
- Romford Autism Hub
- Athens Project
We are thrilled that our contributions in this area have been appreciated by the UK Diversity Awards.
The Outstanding Multi-cultural/BAME Employee Network Award recognises the outstanding contribution of a multi-cultural/BAME network in the legal profession to creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace.
We are proud that our dedication to recruiting the most talented employees, regardless of gender, ethnicity or background is being recognised by this nomination.
We have long been committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and provide services to clients across London and throughout England and Wales in a manner which embraces diversity and encourages equality of opportunity.
Duncan Lewis attracts and recruits talent from diverse backgrounds by following the Equality and Diversity Policy, which encourages and promotes the recruitment of exceptional and diverse talent effectively in an increasingly competitive market. This ensures that staff demographics continue to grow and evolve. We comply with the following in line with The Equality Act 2010 and actively ensure candidates are not discriminated on any of the following grounds: age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity.
The firm’s most recent survey, which was completed by 56% of the entire workforce, reveals that 68% of the workforce is female, 10% are over the age of 45, 42% are from an Asian/Asian British background and 27% were from other ethnic minority groups. In addition, 67% of those in higher positions – such as at managerial or director level – were from ethnic minorities and 60% were female.
Our nominated Equality & Diversity Champion,
