Aina Khan, family solicitor and specialist in Islamic Family law attended the launch and reception to commemorate the Commonwealth's Contribution to the 1st World War 1914 - 1918 held on 8th November 2013.
The event, which was held by the Department for Communities and Local Government at the historic Royal United Services Institute , opposite 10 Downing Street, commemorated the “glorious history of international cooperation and partnership with the peoples of the Commonwealth”.
At the event, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi gave a speech honouring the Asian and African soldiers who fought with the British Army during the 1st World War.
Aina Khan was invited as Head of the Islamic Department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors and a key member of the UK Muslim community.
Aina said of the event: "The Commonwealth soldiers' sacrifice made an enormous difference to the outcome. 1000s came from India and what is now Pakistan and Bangladesh. Britain owes a great debt to these unsung heroes".
