We are thrilled to announce that we have won the Large Law Firm of the Year Award at this year’s Law Society Excellence Awards. The Law Society Excellence Awards recognise the industry-wide work carried out by law firms in England and Wales and are one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the legal profession.
The Large Law firm of the Year award celebrates success through overall performance and highlighted events in the last 12 months and recognises professional excellence, staff engagement and development, business improvement, client care, and progress and improvement.
Noting our commitment to access to justice, dedication to nurturing talent, promotion of diversity and inclusion and working tirelessly against all costs, the Law Society’s Vice President Stephanie Boyce revealed that the judges were unanimous in their decision, and that the difference we have made to the lives of our clients and on the legal profession as a whole was deserving of being crowned the winner of this award.
It is of course, a great honour to be recognised for excellence by the Law Society but in a year that has presented more challenges than usual, having our hard work and dedication rewarded and acknowledged is particularly gratifying. The solidarity shown to us by our peers in the legal profession, as well as this great accolade, gives us even more incentive to continue in our quest to ensure the access to and provision of legal services to those in need and to uphold our firm’s motto of giving people a voice.
Our success at the Excellence Awards continued with Birmingham-based public law director Ahmed Aydeed being Highly Commended for the Human Rights Lawyer of the Year, a true testament to the work he has done this year in combatting modern slavery and human trafficking, focusing not only on their prevention but on creating a more positive future for those who have been subjected to such practices. Huge congratulations to Ahmed!
This year’s ceremony was held virtually as a result of the restrictions imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic and we want to thank the Law Society for bringing a touch of glamour to our week through their impressive online ceremony. The pandemic has created countless obstacles for everyone not least those in the legal profession and so we would like to thank everybody who took the time to support our application for this award, from our clients to our external colleagues and collaborators.
We are delighted and very proud to be named Large Law Firm of the Year. We remain committed to providing publicly funded legal services and giving vulnerable people a voice.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the organisations and individuals that we have worked closely with over the last 12 months; in particular to Clydesdale Bank and Sue Carter and Mark Harley of Clydesdale Bank for their continued support to our business during these very unprecedented times. We thank the Law Society and congratulate all of the other winners and nominees.
