Legal 500 “Top Tier” law firm Duncan Lewis Solicitors are pleased to announce that they have been shortlisted for two awards at the Law Works Annual Pro Bono Awards – the “LawWorks Cymru Award” and the “Best contribution by a firm with a London head office”. Duncan Lewis Director, Emine Mehmet, has also been shortlisted for the award of “Best contribution by an individual”.
The annual event celebrates “the best legal pro bono activities undertaken by organisations and individuals and the positive impact they have had on those helped” (LawWorks), and takes place on the evening of Monday, December 5th. This is the second time Duncan Lewis has been shortlisted for “Best contribution by a firm with a London head office”, having won the award in 2015 and furthermore being shortlisted for “best contribution by a law firm” in 2014.
The LawWorks Cymru Award recognises pro bono legal work being done in Wales by a LawWorks member firm, in-house team or individual.
In addition, DL Director, Emine Mehmet, has been shortlisted for the “Best contribution by an individual” award, which includes pro bono coordinators and volunteer lawyers (in firms and in-house teams), as well as senior partners “who have championed pro bono legal work in a firm or an in-house team” (LawWorks). Last month Emine was also awarded the 2016 Family Law Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year Award.
Regarding both her nomination and those of Duncan Lewis Solicitors, Emine commented, “I am very pleased at this recognition, not only by being nominated individually but by the pro bono team’s general nomination which is well deserved”.
