Duncan Lewis, Main Solicitors, Duncan Lewis Solicitors shortlisted for Clinical Negligence Team of the Year at the Personal Injury Awards 2020

We are delighted to reveal that our Clinical Negligence department has been shortlisted for the Clinical Negligence Team of the Year award at the 2020 Personal Injury Awards.

The Personal Injury Awards provide a unique opportunity to highlight and celebrate the excellence of individuals and organisations across the personal injury sector. The awards encompass all professionals and key service providers working in this field. The objectives of the awards are to identify high standards of practice and to inspire others to emulate the achievements demonstrated by those who have been shortlisted.

The Clinical Negligence Team of the Year award celebrates and recognises teams that are able to demonstrate real results for clients, a commitment to maintaining the highest levels of clients care, and contribute to the wider legal community.

Our clinical negligence team and the lawyers within the department have, for a number of years, been consistently ranked and recommended by The Legal 500 directory for their dedication and hard work and is headed by director Rebecca Thomas who has over 25 years’ worth of experience in the areas of clinical negligence as well as personal injury claims, and Julie Leslie who has experience across all aspects of personal injury and clinical negligence claimant cases. The team is comprised of five other solicitors and one Chartered Legal Executive each with a wealth of knowledge and a range of expertise.

The team has developed an established practice in acting in claims for children and adults who have suffered profound and permanent brain, spinal or neurological injuries and associated disabilities as a consequence of failings in medical care in both NHS and private hospitals. Other broad specialist areas include negligence arising from anaesthetic awareness, internal damage to organs, keyhole surgery, neurosurgery, medical equipment/objects left inside patients after surgery, ophthalmic surgery, orthopaedic surgery, DVT and bedsore claims, failure to take x-rays/scans, anaesthetic mistakes, misdiagnosed cancer, misdiagnosed fractures, wrongful death, claims against paramedics, and nerve and organ damage.

For such a small team the results achieved by our clinical negligence department are exceptional and are testament to the team’s overall expertise both in the general area of clinical negligence and their niche expertise in more nuanced aspects.

We are thrilled that the hard work carried out by the team has been acknowledged by the Personal Injury Awards. This year’s ceremony will be a virtual affair taking place online on 1st December 2020 and we wish the whole team the best of luck and offer them our congratulations.
