We are delighted to announce that we have been included in The Lawyer’s UK Top 200 which ranks the best 200 law firms based on financials, diversity and other benchmarks. This is our inaugural inclusion in the list where we have secured the 112th position, outperforming our peers in this segment.
Impressively, we have also been ranked as the best firm for diversity & gender topping the table for most female lawyers at a law firm of those law firms listed in the top 200 2021. Our latest diversity report shows that of those that responded, 70% of the workforce is female, 65% are under the age of 35, 60% being BAME. In addition, 61% of those in higher positions – including managerial and director level – are from ethnic minorities, and 52% female.
With 70% of our workforce female and 60% coming from an ethnic minority background, such figures show that our commitment to diversity and inclusion has created a working environment that does not discriminate and offers opportunities to all.
This year’s report focuses on the extent to which the UK 200 itself is changing, not just in terms of its total value but also in terms of the range of legal services providers that are now increasingly active in the market and new ownership structures, including listed law firms and related consulting arms, that are becoming ever more prevalent.
The UK 200 notes that our inclusion is overdue and notes the firm’s rise in turnover by 5.1% in the last five years, as well as our focus on publicly funded work. They also noted our response to Covid-19 and the efforts being made to put in place a more advanced work-from-home policy.
Practice manager Jason Bruce comments:
“It is wonderful to be making our debut in The UK 200 which is essential reading for every law firm targeting growth in the market. We are of course, particularly pleased to be the highest ranked for diversity, something that we value greatly. As a firm that is dedicated to recruiting the most talented employees regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality, or background, we recognise that in order to best serve the clients and communities that we assist, a diverse workforce and a commitment to equal opportunities is paramount. It is encouraging to see that we are the market leaders in this area and we hope that moving forward we can retain this position and further increase our ranking in The UK 200 overall list.”
