Duncan Lewis Solicitors are pleased to welcome two new Directors to the firm. Khadijah Khan will supervise a team of solicitors and caseworkers within the Litigation department based in Harrow, whilst Chinedu Orogbu will lead in supervising the Housing team at our Dalston office.
Khadijah Khan joins us from Altion Law with over 13 years’ experience specialising in civil litigation and housing law matters. Khadijah is established in providing advocacy in The High Court (Queen’s Bench Division and Chancery Division), The County Court, Magistrates Court, Tribunal Services and the Coroners Court with specialist experience in Legal Dispute Resolution work, dealing with Litigation and Advocacy, round table meetings for settlements, Mediations, Arbitration and Adjudication.
Khadijah has extensive experience in civil litigation, commercial disputes and contractual matters; property litigation; landlord and tenant matters; general housing issues, disrepair claims, possession proceedings and planning matters; debt recovery, charging orders and enforcements proceedings; as well as judicial review matters and individual and corporate bankruptcies.
Chinedu Orogbu has more than 12 years’ experience in Housing law, joining Duncan Lewis from Thomas Dunton Solicitors, where he developed his expertise in managing a team of solicitors and caseworkers, whilst dealing with his own case load. He is adept in all matters relating to Dispute Resolution, Housing, Civil Litigation and Commercial and Residential Property Law. Chinedu will join Bernadette Chikwe and Subbiah Sivapunniyam as Head of Housing at Duncan Lewis’ Dalston branch.
Chinedu has a broad range on experience including: acting for Private Landlords in shorthold tenancy agreements, possession notices and advising on tenancy deposit rules and breaches; advising private residential and commercial Landlords on Possession Proceedings, applications for stay or suspension of warrant of eviction, housing benefits, assignment and succession rights, security of tenure and unauthorised occupation. He also has specialist experience in assisting clients in making Homelessness applications, securing temporary accommodation and liaising with social services; implementing the Pre-action Protocol in Housing Disrepair cases; obtaining emergency injunctions through Judicial Review; advising on General Civil Litigation; and acting for landlords and RMCs in Lease Hold Management matters.
The Legal 500 UK Directory recommends Duncan Lewis’ Housing team for its specialism in Social Housing Tenant and Landlord Litigation matters and describes it as ‘clearly a major player’ in the space and ‘each practitioner excels in their area’.
