Duncan Lewis Solicitors is pleased to announce the appointment of Jenine Abdo as the new Director of Family and Child Care in South Wales, specifically Swansea and Cardiff. With a career spanning over a decade, Jenine brings an extensive background in Family Law, particularly in public and private Children Law matters, where she has developed a reputation for her dedication and expertise.
Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2010, Jenine has represented individuals across all demographics, centring her practice on cases involving Social Services and Local Authorities. Her work has included representing families in situations where children face the risk of being removed from their homes and placed in foster care or adoption. Known for her compassionate approach and dedication to her clients, she works predominantly on cases funded through legal aid, though she also handles privately funded cases related to residence, contact, and child custody issues for parents, guardians, and often grandparents. Additionally, she represents clients in domestic violence cases where she has successfully obtained injunctions and non-molestation orders.
Jenine’s commitment to social justice permeates every aspect of her professional and personal life. A respected figure in the legal community, she served as the Immediate Past President of the Cardiff and District Law Society (2022-2023) and has held the role of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Officer since 2020. Her dedication extends beyond the courtroom; since 2012, she has actively volunteered with Show Racism the Red Card Wales, where she now sits on the Wales Committee.
Jenine has spent six years as an Independent School Governor in Cardiff and currently serves as a Governor at a primary school in the Vale of Glamorgan. Passionate about mentoring, she has also guest-lectured and taught law students at the University of South Wales. Through her involvement with the South Wales Resolution Committee, she remains current with family law updates and training. Her dedication to social justice is further reflected in her work providing legal clinics for vulnerable and marginalised communities, offering support at domestic violence agencies and within prisons to ensure that those most in need have access to critical legal advice and justice.
We look forward to Jenine’s valuable contributions and the positive impact she will bring to our team and community.
