Duncan Lewis, Main Solicitors, Duncan Lewis Solicitors Publishes 2025 Equality and Diversity Report, Reflecting Continued Leadership in Inclusion Across the Legal Sector

Duncan Lewis Solicitors’ 2025 Equality and Diversity Survey demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to fostering an inclusive and representative workforce across its nationwide practice. With 71% of its total workforce identifying as female and 48% identifying as ethnically diverse, the data reflects a sustained and embedded culture of equality of opportunity.

Conducted in June 2025 in line with the firm’s regulatory obligations under the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), the voluntary internal survey highlights inclusive representation at all levels of the firm. Of the 58 Directors currently leading Duncan Lewis’ legal and business teams, 74% are women and 60% identify as being from an ethnic minority background—illustrating strong diversity at the highest levels of leadership.

Among the firm’s solicitors, 75% are female and 40% are aged 40 and over, evidencing both gender and generational representation across the practice. Non-admitted staff, including trainees and caseworkers, are similarly diverse: 71% identify as female and 89% are aged between 20 and 30.

The firm’s diversity also extends across age and social background. Duncan Lewis continues to prioritise recruitment and development practices that widen access to the legal profession, recognising the value of diverse perspectives in delivering legal excellence. As in previous years, a substantial proportion of the firm’s workforce entered the profession from non-selective state-school backgrounds.

In recent years, Duncan Lewis’ leadership in diversity and inclusion has been recognised by multiple national awards. These include the Diversity Award at the Modern Claims Awards (2023), the Outstanding Firm for Diversity and Inclusion at the Chambers Europe Awards (2021), and Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion at the London Signature Awards (2022). In 2025, the firm is shortlisted as Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Champions of the Year at the Manchester Legal Awards and won the Pro Bono Award at the LexisNexis Legal Awards for its work supporting vulnerable and underrepresented clients.

As a longstanding Disability Confident Employer and proud holder of the Investors in People Gold Standard accreditation, Duncan Lewis continues to embed policies that support flexibility, hybrid working, and career progression for all staff.
