We are proud to reveal that Duncan Lewis Solicitors was highly commended in the Law Firm of the Year category at the prestigious LexisNexis Awards 2022.
The commendation recognises our longstanding commitment to upholding the rule of law and fighting to enable access to justice for all.
It is a testament to the fantastic work of the whole team, across the country in all 25 areas we cover on behalf of our clients.
As we know, Duncan Lewis is UK’s largest provider of legal aid services and our team is dedicated to providing unparalleled service to all our clients as well as to shaping and developing the law to benefit marginalised and vulnerable people.
However, to have this recognised by awards judges is the icing on the cake.
To be considered in the Law Firm of the Year category, entrants were expected to “demonstrate outstanding performance and ingenuity in a particular area of its business.” We were asked to show how this “particular achievement marks it out from the competition and has ensured that it is truly regarded as a trailblazer and market leader in today’s highly competitive and challenging legal market.”
Judges considered a range of our most prominent cases, including SM v Lord Chancellor, a judicial review claim challenging the less favourable arrangements for access to legal aid for immigration detainees held in prisons, compared with those held in IRCs. This led to a ruling that enshrined in law that 30 minutes of legal aid must be available to immigration detainees, and will benefit many vulnerable people in the future.
This is just one example of the varied cases the judges considered, including a crucial housing matter and another involving a child at risk of FGM and facing deportation; rulings in both of which will have far-reaching benefits for future claimants.
They have cemented our position as a market leading company which continues to support our clients to exceptional standards, while fearlessly upholding and safeguarding the principles of the rule of law.
The LexisNexis Legal Awards launched in 2013 with the aim of recognising and celebrating excellence and innovation across the legal sector, attracting an increasing number of high calibre entrants each year.
The winners were announced last night during a glitzy award ceremony at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, Park Lane.
Congratulations to all at the firm for this fantastic acknowledgement, and of course to the other shortlisted firms, as well as the winner of the Law Firm of the Year award.
