Duncan Lewis, Main Solicitors, Duncan Lewis Once Again Voted One of the UK’s Top 250 Law by the Times Newspaper

Duncan Lewis Solicitors has reaffirmed its standing as one of the nation's premier law firms, cementing its place among the top 250 law firms in the UK, as voted by independent lawyers for the Times newspaper.

The company has once again been commended for its unwavering commitment to justice, and its exceptional expertise in critical legal battles.

In acknowledging the firm's groundbreaking work, the paper highlighted the landmark Court of Appeal case in which the public law team challenged the Government's controversial plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda, leading to a verdict that the plan was unlawful.

The firm's tenacity in ensuring fairness and justice in immigration cases set a remarkable precedent.

Duncan Lewis played a pivotal role in efforts to close the overcrowded Manston House holding centre for migrants in Kent, where dire conditions led to outbreaks of communicable diseases. Through strategic legal action, the firm challenged the mistreatment of detainees, leading to the closure of the facility.

The Times also recognises the company's expertise across the board, highlighting the firm's involvement in an inquest case, where the team represented the partner of Stewart John Stanley. Three days after being assaulted in prison, Stanley was moved on to the same wing as the prisoner suspected of the attack. He became concerned that the man was going to harm him and told staff that he would rather harm himself than be harmed by others.

The jury found that failures by prison staff contributed to the death. It concluded that the risk that Stanley might have taken his own life should have been better appreciated and that policies designed to reduce such a risk did not work appropriately.

The firm's advocacy underscored the need for improved policies and better appreciation of risks within the prison system, advocating for justice even in the face of adversity.

Beyond its legal triumphs, The Times acknowledges our continued growth, with offices across the capital and throughout England and Wales and a recently established London HQ.

Established on a foundation of social justice, the firm's nationwide presence encompasses 25 practice areas, making it one of the largest providers of legal aid services in the country, the paper reports, adding that Duncan Lewis Solicitors continues to exemplify unwavering commitment to justice, earning commendation for its impactful work in immigration and family law, and its dedication to protecting the rights of those in need.
