Duncan Lewis Solicitors is proud to announce that seven of its lawyers have been named in the 2026 Pro Bono Recognition List of England and Wales, acknowledging their outstanding commitment to providing free legal support to those most in need.
The annual list celebrates solicitors and barristers who have each dedicated at least 25 hours to pro bono legal work over the past year. It highlights individuals who go above and beyond in their profession to support their communities and improve access to justice.
The Duncan Lewis lawyers recognised this year are:
This recognition reflects the firm’s wider commitment to pro bono work. Between April 2024 and April 2025, 57 Duncan Lewis lawyers collectively delivered more than 920 hours of pro bono legal services.
Emine Mehmet, Head of Duncan Lewis’ Pro Bono Committee, said: “We are incredibly proud to see our colleagues recognised in the 2026 Pro Bono Recognition List. Pro bono work is at the heart of our values at Duncan Lewis, and this achievement reflects the dedication of our lawyers to supporting those who might otherwise struggle to access justice. Through our partnerships and advice clinics, we remain committed to making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.”
The firm’s dedicated Pro Bono Committee, led by Family and Child Care Director Emine Mehmet, plays a central role in coordinating these efforts. The committee oversees ten pro bono advice surgeries run in partnership with a range of charities, including Hestia, Solace, Latin American Women’s Aid, Romford Autism Hub, Shelter, and the Islington Legal Advice Centre. These clinics provide vital legal assistance to individuals facing complex challenges such as domestic abuse, family breakdown, and housing insecurity.
The Pro Bono Committee also developed an innovative partnership with the University of East London, establishing a family law clinic that supports underserved clients while offering law students practical, hands-on experience under the supervision of Duncan Lewis solicitors. This initiative has become an integral part of the University of East London’s legal education programme, with the firm’s wider pro bono work also recognised through its Pro Bono Team of the Year win at the Modern Law Awards 2024.
In addition to these initiatives, Duncan Lewis continues to support charitable campaigns in wills and probate. Through collaborations with organisations such as Cancer Research UK, Will Aid, and Free Wills Month, the firm has helped many clients—particularly those aged 55 and over—access essential will-drafting services.
The firm’s Housing team also remains actively engaged in delivering crucial legal advice through partnerships with Citizens Advice Bureaus across London, as well as Bromley and Croydon Women’s Aid.
Duncan Lewis is honoured to see its lawyers recognised in this year’s Pro Bono Recognition List and remains committed to expanding its pro bono efforts to ensure access to justice for all.
