Duncan Lewis, Main Solicitors, Duncan Lewis Charity of the Month: Honouring Sarah Jopling Through the National Brain Appeal

At Duncan Lewis, our Charity Committee selects a non-profit organisation each month to receive a donation. This initiative is part of our commitment to support causes that make a positive impact in the community.

This month, the Charity of the Month initiative holds a deeply personal significance for us. We have chosen to support the National Brain Appeal, a cause that was close to the heart of our former Family and Child Care Director, Sarah Jopling. Sarah sadly passed away last month after a courageous battle with a brain tumour.

Remembering Sarah Jopling

Sarah Jopling was a formidable childcare solicitor and a respected leader in family law. During her career, she advocated for parents, grandparents, and extended family members in care proceedings. She worked with clients facing challenges such as substance misuse, mental health issues, learning difficulties, and other vulnerabilities.

Sarah’s dedication to her work was evident in her many professional achievements. She became a Law Society Family Panel member in 2004 and was accredited by the Law Society Children Panel in 2007, enabling her to represent children as well as parents. In 2010, she earned Resolution accreditation for her expertise in domestic violence and children’s issues.

Sarah left Duncan Lewis in 2018 to relocate to Cornwall with her family. Though her time with us ended then, her influence within our Family and Child Care department endures.

Emily Wright, who worked closely with Sarah, shared:

“This month the charity committee are donating in memory of one of the previous childcare directors and previously head of the Charity Committee, Sarah Jopling, who sadly passed away last month of a brain tumour. She left Duncan Lewis in 2018 to relocate back to Cornwall as this was best for her wonderful family, having worked for Duncan Lewis for a number of years. In the time she was with us she was a brilliant solicitor and director and well loved by those she worked with. She had been unwell prior to working with us and this sadly reoccurred recently. She will be well missed”.
