We are delighted to announce that Demi Arnold accepted a role as a Newly Qualified Solicitor in Duncan Lewis’ Leeds-based Court of Protection team, following the successful completion of her Training Contract and qualification as a Solicitor.
Demi’s journey at Duncan Lewis Solicitors began in March 2021 when she joined the firm as a Caseworker. Demi’s hard work and dedication quickly earned her a Training Contract in May 2022, and she qualified as a Solicitor in May 2024.
Demi shared her excitement about her new role, stating: “I am incredibly proud to have qualified as a solicitor and to continue this next chapter of my career at Duncan Lewis. I am a part of an excellent team which delivers the very best for clients. I look forward to what the future holds.”
As a Newly Qualified Solicitor in the Court of Protection department, Demi will continue to be based at our Leeds office, acting for vulnerable clients who are the subject of Court of Protection proceedings. She regularly represents family members in section 16 and section 21A COP applications involving the removal of a family member to a care home or specialist facility against the family's objections. Throughout her traineeship, Demi also successfully challenged capacity assessments and deprivation of liberty orders, frequently acting for the Official Solicitor on behalf of P in a range of applications.
Demi’s experience in Court of Protection proceedings encompasses Health and Welfare matters, including mental capacity and best interest decisions. In addition to her Court of Protection work, Demi represents clients in civil litigation and public law proceedings. This includes handling appeals in the Upper Tribunal against disclosure and barring service decisions and acting for clients across a broad range of disputes involving breach of contract and negligence cases involving individuals, businesses, and educational and other institutions.
Court of Protection Director Angela Sandhal congratulated Demi on successfully qualifying as a Solicitor: “Demi has been a key figure in the growth of our Leeds office, having joined Duncan Lewis not long after we opened our doors here a few years ago, and we are delighted that she now joins us on qualification as a Court of Protection and Public Law solicitor.”
Please join us as we congratulate Demi on this significant milestone in her career and wish her continued success in her new role as a Newly Qualified Solicitor.
