Well done to Alisha Kwokori, Tasnima Rahman, Laila Ali and Ezzatullah Zamani who have all accepted training contracts at Duncan Lewis Solicitors. Alisha Kwokori is a trainee solicitor in the clinical negligence and personal injury department at Duncan Lewis, based in our City of London office. She works under supervision of director Rebecca Thomas, a Recommended Lawyer in The Legal 500 guides for both her personal injury and clinical negligence work. Joining the firm initially as a paralegal in May 2021, Alisha’s training contract commenced in July 2023. She possesses a varied caseload of personal injury and clinical negligence claims, dealing with everything from medical negligence claims to claims against employers, occupiers' liability claims and road traffic accidents. Tasnima Rahman is a trainee solicitor in the company's immigration department, based in the City of London office. She works under the supervision of director Tanama Aziz, who “always provides great help to people needing legal assistance," as recommended in the Chambers UK 2023 Edition. Before the commencement of her training contract, Tasnima worked as a caseworker, assisting a team of solicitors in private immigration matters. These include asylum and human rights matters, spouse visa applications, visit visa applications, applications for settlement, sponsorship licenses and skilled worker visas. Laila Ali is a trainee solicitor in the childcare department, based in our Luton office. She works under the supervision of solicitor Sophie Rayment and director Krina Parmar, ranked in the Legal 500 for her private client work as "well-versed in issues of forced marriage and female genital mutilation." Laila’s role primarily consists of assisting in the day-to-day progression of cases across a wide scope of matters relating to family and child law. Ezzatullah Zamani is a trainee solicitor within the private immigration department, based in our City of London office. He works under the direct supervision of the aforementioned immigration law director, Tamana Aziz. Ezzatullah advises and assist privately funded clients on a wide range of immigration, asylum and human rights matters, including settlement applications, family reunion and humanitarian protection. He is am also experienced in assisting extremely vulnerable clients, including victims of human trafficking, violence, modern slavery and those fleeing conflict and persecution such as unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. Ezzatullah has previously undertaken legal and voluntary work placements at Quality Solicitors, Kingston University and BPP Law Schools’ pro bono departments. Our trainees, who started their new roles in July 2023, are valuable to our team at Duncan Lewis, and we are excited to observe their growth and progress throughout the duration of their traineeship.
