Duncan Lewis Solicitors is proud to celebrate a significant milestone as Amrit Raindi marks 10 years with the firm. Over the past decade, Amrit has grown from a Caseworker to a Supervising Solicitor in our Private and Business Immigration department in Birmingham, demonstrating a consistent commitment to both his clients and colleagues.
Since joining the firm in March 2016, Amrit has developed a strong and respected practice in business and private immigration. After completing his training contract within the Immigration and Public Law department, he qualified as a solicitor in March 2019. He now advises a wide range of clients, including businesses, high-net-worth individuals and skilled professionals, on matters such as sponsorship, visa applications, and extensions under the Points Based System.
Alongside his business immigration work, Amrit continues to draw on his earlier experience in asylum and public law matters. He has worked extensively with vulnerable clients, including those in detention and individuals with complex needs, and has successfully challenged unlawful detention, securing both release and damages. This breadth of experience underpins his practical and client-focused approach.
As a Level 2 Senior Caseworker under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme, Amrit’s expertise is well established. He is also recognised as a Recommended Lawyer in the Legal 500 across both London and Birmingham, reflecting the high standard of service he consistently delivers to his clients.
To mark this milestone, we asked Amrit to reflect on his journey so far:
What has been your proudest moment at the firm?
“One of the most rewarding aspects of my role has been seeing the people I supervise grow in confidence and develop their own careers. Supporting junior colleagues as they take on more responsibility and achieve their own successes is incredibly fulfilling. Knowing I’ve played a part in their progression, while also helping clients achieve life-changing outcomes, is something I’m very proud of.”
What has kept you motivated over the past 10 years?
“For me, it’s always been the impact that immigration law has on people’s lives. Every case represents someone’s future, whether that’s staying with family, building a career in the UK, or finding safety and stability. Being able to guide clients through what is often one of the most challenging periods of their lives, and helping them reach a positive outcome, continues to motivate me every day.”
What does this milestone mean to you?
“Reaching 10 years at the firm is a significant moment. It reflects not just my professional development, but also the strong relationships I’ve built with colleagues and clients over the years. I’ve grown both as a solicitor and as a supervisor, and I’m proud to have contributed to the firm’s success while continuing to evolve in my role.”
Can you share a memorable success story?
“One case that has stayed with me involved a client who had spent years living in uncertainty about their immigration status. After carefully reviewing their circumstances and preparing a detailed application, we were able to secure a positive outcome that allowed them to finally regularise their status. Seeing the relief and gratitude from the client after such a long period of uncertainty was incredibly powerful, and a reminder of why this work is so important.”
Why did you choose immigration law?
“I was drawn to immigration law because it combines legal work with real human stories. It’s a challenging and constantly evolving area, but it also gives you the opportunity to make a genuine difference to people’s lives. From the start, I wanted to help individuals and families through difficult situations and support them in building a better future.”
As Amrit celebrates this 10-year milestone, we recognise not only his professional achievements but also his dedication, compassion, and leadership within the firm. His contribution continues to make a meaningful difference to both clients and colleagues alike.
We look forward to many more years of success and congratulate Amrit on this fantastic achievement.
