We are pleased to announce that our CEO Shany Gupta has been shortlisted for Business Leader of the Year at the first British Sikh Awards.
The purpose of these awards is to recognise, celebrate and promote the contributions of the British Sikh community to a successful and prosperous United Kingdom.
Shany qualified as a litigation solicitor in 1996 and very quickly moved to open his own firm, something that was unprecedented at the time. He has been responsible for overseeing the accelerated growth of Duncan Lewis Solicitors to what it is today - a formidable law firm that has been recognised by numerous institutions.
Shany is involved in managing the overall operations and resources of the company, working closely with the management board of directors to shape strategic development and map the direction of the firm. The firm represents approximately 20,000 plus clients a year specialising in multiple practice areas. The firm strives to represent the most vulnerable members of society and this wish to serve such individuals arises from Shany's altruistic life view.
Further, his commitment to diversity and inclusion is unwavering and over the years the firm has made a concerted effort to ensure that our workforce consists of the most talented employees regardless of gender, ethnicity, or background, and that our working environment offers opportunities to all. The results of our most recent companywide survey show that 70% of our workforce is female, 65% are under the age of 35, with 60% being BAME. In addition, 61% of those in higher positions – including managerial and director level – are from ethnic minorities, and 52% female.
