Legal 500 2015 “Top-Tier” law firm Duncan Lewis Solicitors are pleased to announce the recent arrival of Dianne Cowie as a Director in the firm’s East Croydon Housing Team.

Dianne joins Duncan Lewis with significant experience in housing litigation matters. Dianne specialises in acting for both tenants and landlords in matters including disrepair; possession proceedings; tenancy disputes; injunctions and committal proceedings; homelessness appeals and judicial reviews. Dianne’s individual expertise in these areas has seen her being involved in a number of important and reported decisions, including cases which have been decided by the Supreme Court.

Dianne has a niche specialism in housing disrepair matters. These matters see Dianne helping tenants and leaseholders ensure repairs are carried out to their properties and, when possible, obtaining compensation for clients affected by property disrepair. Furthermore, Dianne also is highly experienced in possession matters on the basis of various grounds such as rent arrears, breaches of tenancies and in particular dealing with vulnerable clients whom many have allegations of anti social behavior.

Joining as a Director in the Duncan Lewis Housing Department Dianne will be predominantly based in the company's South London offices in Tooting and Croydon. She joins Dalston based Directors Jamille Mohammed and S K Sivapunniyam in leading the Legal 500 2014 recommended Department assisting clients across London in social tenants matters; provide guidance for landlords and tenants on all housing issues. Duncan Lewis Housing Solicitors can guide clients in any matter or issues arising with local housing authorities, housing applications, tenants, landlords, ownership, repairs and many more. This department also regularly represents clients in the courts, ensuring they receive the highest quality assistance throughout their case.

In Litigation matters Dianne joins London based Directors Anthony Okumah, Julie Leslie, Nerys Thomas and Sobashni De Silva in leading a department that has a wide practice in all forms of dispute resolution and offers varied and appropriate private funding packages, such as no win no fee and damages based agreements, to suit all client’s needs. There is a niche focus on commercial litigation, claimant professional negligence work on behalf of individuals claiming negligence against legal (solicitors, barristers) and construction professionals (architects, surveyors); personal injury claims and clinical negligence. The company’s clinical negligence team act in claims for children and adults who have suffered profound and permanent brain, spinal or neurological injuries and associated disabilities as a consequence of failings in medical care in both NHS and private hospitals.
