The British Deputy High Commissioner for western India, Kumar Iyer, has said that students from India wishing to study in the UK need not worry about not being given a student visa if they have applied for a reputable college or university.
Mr Iyer The Times of India.
Mr Iyer added that the visa application process was under further simplification.
“Currently, a visa can take between seven and 13 working days – and there are also options for three-day fast track processing, with a premium service of same-day visa processing,” he said.
Mr Iyer is also the director general of the UK India Trade and Investments (UKTI) – and he said the British government had also modified the rules about work opportunities for students after they have completed their education.
Students will now be able to extend their visa to be able to work in areas related to their academic programme – which has to be a graduate programme, said Mr Iyer.
