We are extremely pleased to announce that Vilash Gami has been promoted to the role of Director of Immigration at Duncan Lewis Solicitors.
Vilash, who will be based in our City of London office serving clients across England and Wales, qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and has more than 15 years’ experience sensitively and expertly assisting clients with their immigration and asylum issues.
She is often called upon to fight for victims of torture, trafficking and domestic violence, as well as for vulnerable young people and others with mental health issues.
Patient and sympathetic, Vilash is also able to act swiftly to ensure her clients get the care they need and proper protection by the relevant specialists, and to secure a positive result.
Recent cases have included asylum applications, including those on DAC, deportation, general immigration matters such as entry clearance, family reunion, marriage applications, EEA and nationality cases.
She is skilled in taking all types of matters from their initial application and steering them expertly through the court system.
Vilash has in-depth experience of representing clients at the High Court for judicial reviews and has detailed knowledge of the complex procedures involved within the Court of Appeal.
Examples of the wide ranging cases she has taken on include, unlawful detention, false imprisonment, the unlawful delay in processing immigration and asylum applications, challenges to refusals of Article 8 ECHR family and private life applications, third country removals and challenges to decisions denying access to public funds.
She has been designated a level 2 re-accreditation Supervisor and Senior Caseworker by the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme and also a Supervisor and Senior Caseworker Level 2 of the same scheme in 2006. Vilash was also recognised as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ in the 2020 The Legal 500 Immigration: human rights, appeals & overstay / London guide.
