Duncan Lewis Solicitors are pleased to announce the recent internal appointment of Alexis Masolo as director of immigration for its Leicester based office.
Alexis specialises in immigration and public law matters. Her range of expertise covers complex asylum and removal cases, EU law under the European Economic Area regulations, representing detained foreign nationals and handling judicial review claimant claims. She joined Duncan Lewis in 2013 as a trainee solicitor and upon completing her training with the company, qualified as a solicitor in late 2014.
Many of Alexis’ clients are extremely vulnerable and receive their advice and assistance through legal aid funding. As a Senior Caseworker under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme with enhanced DBS disclosure, she regularly represents victims of domestic or sexual abuse, victims of torture or trafficking and suffering from complex psychological or mental health issues.
We are delighted to have Alexis on board. Her skill-set and experience will be invaluable to the company’s Leicester based immigration team and will help to maintain Duncan Lewis’ immigration and public law presence in and around the Leicester area, and across both the East and West Midlands.
As the largest provider of publicly funded (legal aid) services in the UK, Duncan Lewis operates a prominent immigration, human rights and civil liberties practice for businesses and individuals, including vulnerable clients from offices across England and Wales. The 2019 edition of The Legal 500 ranks its London and Wales based immigration teams as tier 1 practices describing them as a 'knowledgeable and well organised team’ that 'punches well above its weight – litigating points of law with both national and international importance'.
Alexis commented on her appointment;
“I am delighted with my appointment as director of immigration in the Leicester office and I am keen to work together with my colleagues to ensure that we continue to assist our society’s most vulnerable.”
