Thanet Council in Kent is hosting its annual landlords’ event on 29 June, which it says is an opportunity for the council and landlords to work together with the aim of improving the management and standards of homes in the private rented sector.
The event will involve a forum to discuss best practice and help to raise awareness amongst landlords about their obligations as a landlord and what the council can do to support them.
Subjects to be covered include smoke and carbon monoxide alarm regulations, an update on the progress of the Margate Task Force – and information on the new selective licensing designation in Cliftonville.
A speaker from Jobcentre Plus will be in attendance to talk about the roll out of Universal Credit – and representatives from the ABC Waste Management Forum will also attend to discuss their work.
There will also be opportunities for networking – and landlords will be able to discuss issues with representatives of trade bodies such as the National Landlords Association, Residential Landlords Association and Southern Landlords Association.
Thanet Council’s Director of Community Services, Rob Kenyon, said:
“This event is an excellent example of how the council works with our partners to support residents and businesses locally – and to improve the condition and management of the homes of private sector tenants.”
