Salford-based social housing provider Salix Homes has secured three civil injunctions in a week using the new anti-social behaviour legislation introduced in March 2014, online publisher 24Dash.com reports.

The social housing provider owns 8,500 properties across central Salford, in Greater Manchester – and resorted to using the new legislation to take legal action against three tenants who had acted in a threatening manner both towards their neighbours and to Salix Homes employees.

At Manchester Civil Justice Centre, the judge granted the Civil Injunction Orders to Salix Homes in all three cases.

Executive director of operations at Salix Homes, Sue Sutton, told 24Dash.com:

“We welcome the court’s decision to grant Civil Injunction Orders in these three cases.

“We believe we are one of the first housing providers to obtain three injunctions in a week under the new legislation – and we are pleased to have been able to use these powers to provide protection to our residents and employees.

“We take all reports of anti-social behaviour extremely seriously – and we will not tolerate any type of abusive or violent conduct towards our tenants and employees.

“Community safety is a priority for Salix Homes – and I hope these three cases send out a very clear message that we will not hesitate to use this new legislation and take legal action to ensure our communities remain safe places to live and work.”
