Gateshead Council starts work on £1m affordable housing development (25 July 2016)

Gateshead Council has commenced work on a new £1 million development of affordable homes, comprising ten new homes.
Contractors NB Clark Construction is building three houses and seven bungalows at Teams in Gateshead. The council has joined forces with housing association Isos Housing, in response to continuing strong demand for affordable homes in the borough.
Gateshead Council’s Cabinet Member for housing, Councillor Liz Twist, said:
“We are very pleased to be working in partnership with Isos Housing to provide some much needed affordable housing in the area – these are well designed, quality homes and I’m sure they will be very popular with local people.”
Development and regeneration manager for Isos Housing, Lea Smith, added:
“We know there is a real need for high quality, affordable homes in Gateshead – this is a development which will meet the needs of local people, with both family homes and bungalows for older residents.
“Isos is committed to building 200 new homes region-wide in this financial year, to help tackle the housing crisis in the northeast.”
