A social housing tenant from London has been locked in a long running dispute with her landlord over a lack of hot water, with the woman in question claiming that she has been without the utility for over four months.
Hackney resident, Levin Bulus, who shares a property with her teenage daughter, says that Genesis Housing Association has continued to overlook the problem despite the fact that she has been without hot water since the beginning of October. The 37-year-old has since been forced to use a shower at a neighbour's house.
Ms Bulus spoke about her plight to Hackney Gazette last week. She said: “I'm very angry. I've had no hot water for four months. The boiler is not working. Housing association Genesis has not fixed it. They keep sending people out. They've sent electricians, plumbers, carpenters – every tradesman you can think of. I just want it sorted.”
A Genesis spokesperson apologised for the delay, admitted that the four-month wait had been unacceptable and revealed that the use of a rare solar panel had contributed to the difficulties. The spokesperson continued: “On behalf of our resident, we got in touch with the manufacturers to insist they send one of their own contractors out to carry out repairs as soon as possible. They are due on site this week.”
