Newcastle Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is inviting unpaid carers in the area to submit their experiences and views on the services available to them.
The consultation is seeking the opinions of those who care for someone who is ill, disabled, has a mental health problem or an addiction, who would not be able to cope without their support and who are not paid for providing care.
The review will determine the best way to deliver carers’ services in the future.
Gateshead Council Cabinet Member, Councillor Michael McNestry, said:
“We really need your help and your views on any services or assistance you get if you are a carer.
“We want to understand how we can support the needs of unpaid carers and develop carers’ services in the future – this survey is one of a number of ways we will be engaging with people who have a caring role.
“Our consultation is for people of any age, who provide unpaid care to a family member or friend, who due to old age, illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction – or, you may be raising a child whose parents are unable to care for them.
“We recognise there are many unsung, unpaid carers in the borough – and we want to do as much as we can to find out about them and support them to the best of our abilities.”
The consultation is online at www.gateshead.gov.uk/consultation until 15 January – paper copies of the questionnaire can be made available by calling the Commissioning Team on 0191 433 3601.
