Sandwell Council in the West Midlands has prosecuted two men found fly tipping in a car park at the rear of flats on Beaconview Road in West Bromwich.
At Black Country Magistrates’ Court in West Bromwich, David Aherne of Batchcroft in Wednesbury and Geoffrey Jewkes of Westminster Road in West Bromwich were ordered to pay fines and costs totally £1,463 and £1,530, respectively.
The men had dumped rubbish at the rear of Briarley Flats on Beaconview Road, the court was told.
After the hearing, Sandwell Council’s strategic manager for regulatory services, Stephen Gabriel, said:
“When we have evidence of fly tipping we will prosecute.
“Fly tipping is anti-social and can cause a health hazard – it’s not worth the risk, so I would urge people to use Sandwell Council’s refuse collection facilities.”
