Police in Worcestershire have raided a property in the St Peter’s area of Worcester and arrested two women aged 26 and 34 in connection with the management of a brothel.
West Mercia Police are working with police in Oxfordshire, where a third woman aged 41 was arrested in Banbury on Thursday (08/03/14). She has been taken to Worcester for police questioning over suspicion of involvement in the management of a brothel.
The women were arrested after a police operation lasting several months, the Evesham Journal reports. Detective Superintendent Tennant from reactive CID said:
“This investigation has been ongoing for some time. We are aware that there had been concerns for a number of months over activities at the address – and we conducted a painstaking operation to gather evidence. The residents have been complaining about this for some time.”
The two women arrested in Worcester were found in bed by officers and were led away in handcuffs after being allowed to get dressed.
Police also conducted a search of the garden and bins outside the property. Police said that the address had also been under surveillance for some months before the raid.
Charges of conspiracy to manage a brothel or assisting in the management of a brothel can carry prison sentences.
