A man charged with firearms and drug offences is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court today (29/09/14).
Police officers from the Metropolitan Police’s anti-gang unit Operation Trident arrested 25-year-old Nathan Cuffey at Sandbourne House, Dartmouth Close, in Notting Hill, west London at around 1pm on Friday.
They also seized two loaded handguns and two loaded revolvers at the same address.
The Evening Standard reports that police were acting on intelligence when they raided the property.
Cuffy was arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms and related offences. He was later charged with three counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, as well as possession of ammunition, possession of a Class A drug – cocaine – and two counts of possession of cannabis.
After the arrest, Acting Detective Chief Superintendent Gordon Allison said:
“The arrest and seizures are another example of Trident officers acting on fast-time intelligence and removing a deadly weapon from the streets of London.
“This operation highlights the dangers posed to unarmed police officers – and their bravery in confronting armed criminals who pose a high risk to the local community.
“Trident officers work closely with boroughs to protect communities from gang violence, arresting those involved and where appropriate bringing them before the courts to face justice.”
