A man from Nottinghamshire who carried out a series of burglaries in the East Midlands has been given a four-year jail term for his crimes following a one-day trial.

Twenty-five-year-old David Alexander Rower broke in to several properties with a 17-year old accomplice, who received a community order but has not been named, in October last year. Nottinghamshire Crown Court heard that the pair were responsible for numerous burglaries and attempted burglaries during a four-week period.

Rowe and the teenager tried to break into a property in Selston on Saturday 26th October by removing the door handle before entering another property in the same area the following evening. On that occasion, they stole jewellery and other personal items from an elderly couple after disconnecting the electricity while the couple slept.

Their burgling spree continued less than 24 hours later when they tried to break into another house in Selston. The final incident occurred on the same night when they targeted another house and stole keys and a grey Mazda RX8 after entering through a window.

Mansfield North Detective Constable Neil Alsop concluded: “I hope this sentence sends out a message that Nottinghamshire Police treat burglary very seriously and offenders can expect to be located and sent to prison.”
