Norfolk and Suffolk Police launch anti-speeding campaign (14 April 2015)

Police in Norfolk and Suffolk have launched a week-long, anti-speeding initiative with the aim of catching motorists travelling at more than 100mph.
The campaign will target motorists travelling at high speeds across Norfolk and Suffolk, online publisher EDP24.com reports.
The campaign launched on Monday (13/04/15) and in the days in the run up to the launch, police officers stopped one motorist travelling at 114mph on the A47 in Norfolk – and another travelling at 102mph on the A1065.
Head of roads policing in Norfolk and Suffolk, Chief Inspector Chris Spinks, said:
“Speed limits are in place for a reason: to reduce casualties and keep the roads safe for everyone.
“It is worth mentioning that the speed limit is not a target and motorists should always consider other factors – such as road conditions – when travelling.”
Norfolk and Suffolk Police say motorists caught speeding will be issued with a Traffic Offence Report and will also face a fine, points on their licence or court action.
Some motorists will be given the choice of opting for a speed awareness court.
The anti-speeding initiative across Norfolk and Suffolk will end on Sunday, 19 April.
