Birmingham teenagers given ASBO for reign of terror (13 December 2013)

Four teenagers from Birmingham have been handed ASBOs after they terrorised local neighbourhoods by hurling insults and throwing rocks at community members despite being warned about their behaviour and arrested on numerous occasions.
The students, aged between 13 and 15 and from Alum Rock, continued their anti-social behaviour in the Bordesley Green and Washwood Heath areas for over six months according to Birmingham Magistrates' Court.
Police and council officials finally ran out of patience after previous warnings and acceptable behaviour contracts were laughed at by the quartet. Sajeer Khan, Kabir Khan, Hamza Shafiq and Hassan Hussain have been banned from launching missiles and visiting the areas they terrorised for three years.
Inspector Keith Wiseman, of West Midlands Police, who revealed that they had spent the best part of a year building a case against the gang, spoke of his relief at the banning orders: “We are pleased the court issued orders against these four individuals, which will provide great relief to the local neighbourhood.”
Birmingham City Council safety boss, James McKay added: “I congratulate the bravery of the local community, who felt empowered to make a change and reclaim their neighbourhood. Criminal acts and anti-social behaviour should not have to be tolerated by decent people trying to live their lives in peace. We will continue to work to remove anti-social behaviour from our city.”
