A judge has branded a “baby faced” burglar as one of the country’s most dangerous criminals.
Manchester Evening News reports that Jordan McPherson, 18, raped a man while his partner was present at the address, after the couple found McPherson burgling their apartment in Openshaw, Manchester on 6 December.
McPherson was high on a cocktail of spirits, cocaine and the drug MDMA when he ordered the 18-year-old man into his own bedroom and raped him at knifepoint, before escaping through a window.
McPherson of Grosvenor Road, Whalley Range, had been in care and is responsible for 88 burglaries, the court heard. His convictions date from the time he was 14 years’ old.
He was on remand when he confessed to being involved in three other burglaries between September and November 2014.
His defence lawyer told the court:
“His life has been, frankly, an awful one – and it would have taken a Herculean effort by the very strongest character to drag himself out of that mire. He has not been able to do that.”
At Manchester Crown Court, McPherson was sentenced to 11 years and eight months.
Judge Michael Leeming told him:
“I’m satisfied you are a dangerous offender and that you present a significant risk to members of the public of serious harm.”
